- 1 ½ cups brown sugar
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup sour milk, buttermilk, sour cream or yogurt
- 1 tsp soda
- â…› tsp nutmeg
- 2 cups flour
- 1 ½ cups finely cut rhubarb
Topping
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 3/4 tsp cinnamon
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts (we used almonds and pecans would also taste great)
- Cream brown sugar and butter.
- Beat in egg.
- Add vanilla, and sour milk.
- Add soda, nutmeg, flour and rhubarb last.
- Spread into 12×9 pan.
- Sprinkle topping over batter.
- Bake at 350° for 35-45 min.
- we broiled for 2-3 min after baking to ensure sugar melted.
