- 1/2 cup butter or hard margarine, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- Beat together butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla on medium spead until smooth.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and stir with a spoon just until moistened.
- Drop by rounded teaspoonfulls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Leave 2 inches between each mound of dough.
- Bake on the center rack in the oven for 8 minutes at 350°.
- Let stand for 2 minutes before removing cookies from pan.
Makes 2 dozen cookies.
