- 4 slices of bacon, chopped into small pieces
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1.5 lbs. ground beef
- 6 cups water
- 6 beef bouillon cubes
- 2 cups spaghetti sauce
- 2 cups cabbage, chopped
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1 medium carrot, diced
- 1 cup zucchini, sliced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 414 ml can of kidney beans, with juice
- 1/2 cup vermicelli (broken into small pieces), or other small pasta, or pot barley
- Saute the bacon, onion, and ground beef until the meat is browned.
- Add the water and bouillon cubes, and bring it to a boil.
- Add the spaghetti sauce, cabbage, celery, carrot, zucchini, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Add the kidney beans and pasta and boil for 10 minutes.
Makes 12 cups.
Freezes well.
