Cook beef bones (or ribs, etc.) in large quantity of water, salt to taste. When meat is partly cooked add raw barley (about 1 cup for fairly thick soup) and chopped onions & spices (bay leaves, star anise & peppercorns in spice container) & parsley if desired. When barley is cooked add a can of tomato soup and cream to taste. Reheat.
