- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp. milk or water
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. hard margarine (not butter)
- 2 to 3 slieces of french bread, 1 inch thick
- a sprinkle of icing sugar
- Break egg into a pie plate, beat with fork. Add milk or water, salt, and vanilla and mix together.
- Melt margarine in medium-hot frying pan.
- Dip the bread slices, one at a time, into the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides. Brown both sides in the frying pan.
- Sprinkle a spoonful of icing sugar over top of the slices.
